The total value of owner occupied housing commitments rose by 1% in April 2006, following a revised 0.9% rise in March 2006. Increases were recorded for purchase of established dwellings excluding refinancing (up 1.7%), purchase of new dwellings (3.3%) and refinancing of established dwellings (0.2%), with decreases recorded in construction of dwellings (-3.7%). The Courier Mail today revealed BRISBANE ratepayers could pay up to $100 million more for the North-South Bypass Tunnel if the State Government refuses to allow 24-hour access to haulage routes during the construction phase.
